Bronchoscopy

Precision Diagnostics for Early Lung Disease Detection

At Smyrna Pulmonary & Sleep Associates (SPSA), our board-certified pulmonologists provide cutting-edge bronchoscopic procedures to diagnose and  manage lung nodules, masses, and other airway problems. By combining advanced technology with  expert care, we help detect and treat lung conditions earlier and more accurately.

Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)

  • A minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound along the airway to sample lymph nodes and lung masses.
  • Provides accurate staging for lung cancer and helps diagnose infections or inflammatory conditions such as sarcoidosis.
  • Reduces the need for more invasive surgery.

Navigational Bronchoscopy

  • Uses advanced imaging and GPS-like technology to reach small or hard-to-access lung nodules.
  • Improves diagnostic accuracy for nodules found on CT scans.
  • Allows early diagnosis of lung cancer when treatment is most effective.

Electromagnetic Bronchoscopy (ENB)

Electromagnetic bronchoscopy (ENB) is a minimally invasive test used to evaluate small or hard-to-reach spots in the  lungs. It uses GPS-like  navigation and a CT scan to guide the doctor safely through the airways to the exact area of concern.
During the procedure, small tissue samples may be taken to check for cancer, infection, or other lung conditions—without surgery. ENB is usually done as an outpatient procedure, and most patients go home the same day.

Robotics Bronchoscopy

Robotic bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure using a controller-guided robotic arm to navigate a thin, flexible scope deep into the lungs, allowing doctors to biopsy hard-to-reach nodules for early lung cancer  detection with greater precision than traditional methods, offering better access, stability, and potentially avoiding more invasive surgery for diagnosis. It involves creating 3D lung maps, steering a catheter to suspicious spots, taking tissue samples (biopsy), and even marking lymph nodes, leading to faster diagnosis and staging. Intuitive develops advanced robotic systems like Ion for precise, minimally invasive lung biopsies.Check this video to know more Source Credit intuitive :
